ドイツテコンドー代表が東京2020オリンピック事前合宿を行いました

　豊橋のホストタウン相手国であるドイツ連邦共和国のテコンドー代表が9月16日から21日にかけ、豊橋市でオリンピックの事前合宿を実施しました。

今回の訪問メンバーはコーチのストライフ・ゲオーグさん、理学療法士のベルワーンッガ・ヴォルフガングさん、2013年世界選手権優勝者のギュレック・ターヒル選手、2019ドイツ選手権優勝者のウェンリュソーイ・ジェム選手、2019世界選手権銅メダリストのコンスタンティニディス・ヨルダネス選手でした。

17日には吉田方小学校で交流会を行い、世界トップのテコンドーの選手から直接指導してもらい、児童達は大変盛り上がりました。滞在中は豊橋市総合体育館、アクアリーナ豊橋、及び陸上競技場でトレーニングを行ったほか、豊川稲荷に参拝したり、和食や寿司といった日本の食文化も楽しまれていきました。

来年4月、イタリアで行う大陸予選大会に勝ち上位2位以内に入ると、オリンピックの出場が決定するので、これからもドイツの選手らを応援していきましょう！

German National Taekwondo Team Pre-Olympic Training Camp

　The German National Taekwondo Team held a pre-Olympic training camp in Germany’s Olympic Host Town, Toyohashi, from September 16th to the 21st.

The visiting delegation consisted of delegation leader Coach Georg Streif, physiotherapist Mr. Wolfgang Berwanger, 2013 Taekwondo World Champion Tahir Guelec, 2019 German Taekwondo Champion Cem Uenluesoy, and 2019 Taekwondo World Championship bronze medalist Iordanis Konstantinidis.

On the 17th, the delegation headed to Yoshidagata Elementary School and held an exchange event where the energetic students were able to experience world-class Taekwondo first hand. Aside from their intense training at the Toyohashi Gymnasium, Aquarena Toyohashi, and the Toyohashi Track-and-Field facilities, the team visited Toyokawa Inari Temple, and enjoyed a variety of traditional Japanese dishes including sushi.

The European Olympic Qualifier Tournament will be held in Italy next April. The top two finishers in that tournament will earn a spot in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, so let’s all cheer on the German Taekwondo team!
