Stay Alert for Photochemical Smog

Photochemical smog forms easily from spring throughout the summer on days when the sun’s rays are strong and the wind is weak. When it forms, the sky appears whitish and smoggy. Photochemical smog can irritate your eyes and throat. In the event of its formation, a series of forecasts, alerts, and warnings will be issued.

Notification about Issuances

-- Alerts/warnings will be issued via television, radio broadcast, and bulletin boards in municipal facilities.
-- In the event a warning is issued, the warning will be issued all at once throughout the city via the emergency wireless system.

Notes Concerning Alerts/Warnings in Effect

-- Avoid going out as much as possible.
-- Refrain from performing outdoor activities.
-- Refrain from operating your vehicle.
-- If your eyes and/or throat feel irritated, please wash your eyes and/or gargle immediately. If symptoms do not alleviate, please seek medical attention at a medical facility.

--One forecast was issued last year for the Toyohashi area.

Alerts Via E-Mail

If you register for Toyohashi “Hotto” Mail, alerts/warnings will be mailed to your cell phone or other electronic device in the event of an alert/warning being issued. To register for Toyohashi “Hotto” Mail, send a blank e-mail to (entry@anzen-ansin.net).
