These vaccines will be available at no cost to you/the individual receiving the vaccine until March 31, 2024 (end of special exception period).
Eligibility
- Children between the ages of 5 and 11 years old
※The child can receive the vaccine the day before they turn 5 years old
(Example) If the child turns 5 on March 20, they can receive the vaccine on March 19
※Children who reach 12 years of age before getting vaccinated against COVID-19 should receive the vaccine for individuals 12+ years of age. Their vaccine voucher/pre-vaccination screening questionnaires for the vaccine for young children (小児用のワクチン) can still be used for receiving a COVID-19 vaccine for individuals 12+ years of age.

※Children 6-11 years of age are eligible.
- In principle, your 1st and 2nd doses should be the same type of vaccine. However, you can receive a different vaccine if your situation satisfies one of the following (1-3) conditions.
(※1)If serious side effects, etc. occurred as a result of your first vaccination, and your doctor determines from a medical standpoint that receiving the same vaccine could lead to significant problems.
(※2)When it is difficult to receive the same vaccination for both doses due to a decrease in domestic vaccine distribution and/or the relocation of the person receiving the vaccinations.
(※3)For males in their teens (10-19) and 20s who received Moderna for their first dose and would like to change to Pfizer for their second dose.
Rare cases of myocarditis and pericarditis have been observed after vaccination with Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. These cases are observed especially in males in their teens and 20s, and are reported more frequently as a result of Moderna vaccinations.
Vaccination Interval
Vaccine recipients are typically asked to receive their 2nd dose around 3 weeks after receiving their 1st dose.
