These vaccines will be available at no cost to you/the individual receiving the vaccine until March 31, 2024 (end of special exception period).
Please consult your child’s doctor and the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare’s COVID-19 Q&A regarding the vaccine and make an informed decision.
Eligibility
- Infants and young children from 6 months to 4 years of age
※The child can receive the vaccine the day before they turn 6 months old
(Example) If the child turns 6 months old on March 20, they can receive the vaccine on March 19
※If your child turns 5 years of age before they receive a vaccine for infants/young children, they will instead receive the vaccine for children. Their pre-vaccination screening questionnaire with the included vaccine voucher will still be valid. However, this only applies for an initial vaccination (1st and 2nd doses); please dispose of an unused questionnaire and vaccine voucher for a booster (3rd dose) shot.
Vaccination Period
- From October 24, 2022 (Reiwa 4) until March 31, 2024 (Reiwa 6)
In order to complete the Pfizer COVID-19 initial vaccinations (3-dose set) for infants and young children ages 6 months to 4 years of age, your child will need to complete their 1st dose by Sunday, January 14, 2024 (vaccination interval:【2nd dose】typically 3 weeks after the 1st dose,【3rd dose】typically 8 or more weeks after the 2nd dose).
This 1st dose deadline was calculated using the overall deadline of Sunday, March 31, but in reality, there aren’t as many medical facilities open on Sundays. If you really want your child vaccinated, we recommend having them vaccinated earlier.
